Some Piano Instruction For Starters

By Sonya Riley

Everyone loves music. It can be relaxing, encouraging or comforting and anything between sophisticated and revolutionary. Music brings the world together: there is no culture without some kind of playing and singing. With music being such an amazing phenomenon, it may have crossed one's mind, how great it would be to be able to create it. With these easy piano instruction you can learn to play your favorite songs.

Taking lessons is not a bad idea. In fact they are quite necessary if you dream about becoming a true master. In many areas there are special music schools that provides lessons. There are both public and private of them, but you might need to pass a test to get in. It sounds scary, but the judges are usually really encouraging and friendly. And to make that clear: you don't need to be an experienced musician. Just a little singing or a simple piece with some instrument will do the trick.

Other, maybe even better option is to look for a teacher online or through a local newspaper. These private teachers will usually charge you for an hour instead of year, so it's possible to take just a few lessons. However, it is also other ways to learn besides the traditional lessons. Internet has brought countless learning opportunities with it; you just have to know a little something about music and your instrument first.

The whole western notation system is based on octaves that go on and on. The same note appears at the beginning and the end of each octave, for example C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, also known as C-major. In everyday talking you hear terms like 'higher C' and 'lower C', but when you get far enough, you will learn that every note has it's own name. C4 is a lot easier to find than just a 'very high C'.

The most used C-major (in the beginning that is) is located in the middle of the keyboard. You find the C by looking at the black keys: it is always the key right on the left side of the 'group of two' of the blacks. C-major has just white keys in it, so if you play them all up until the next C, you have most likely played it.

Get ready to play your first song: mark the keys from C to G with letters or colors. Use some paper and tape to do this, it's not a grand idea to draw on your instrument. When you are ready, use your right hand to play: E D C D E E E D D D E G G, take a small break and continue: E D C D E E E D D E D C.

In case that seems too hard, here is an other option for playing the same thing: middle finger, fore finger, thumb, fore finger, middle finger x3, fore finger x3, middle finger, little finger x2 REST middle finger, fore finger, thumb, fore finger, middle finger x3, fore finger x2, middle finger, fore finger, thumb.

If you managed to play the song, you noticed that it was 'Mary had a little lamb'. These piano instruction helped you to get started, now keep up practicing and some day you will be a true artist. Video-tutorials and other useful material can be easily found on the net.
