World Trade Center Prints: Past And Present

By Mattie Knight

Every American recalls that fateful day, September 11, 2001. Most people remember where they were and what they were doing the moment they heard the news. Thankfully there are many World Trade Center Prints available depicting the Center before the planes struck the world renowned buildings in New York City. Naturally, there have been many more prints and works of art created showing the Center as it is today.

Some of the prints feature the twin towers as the main subject matter. Others show broader views of the towers that include the Statue of Liberty and other landmarks. Prints are available in color or black and white. Some are photographic prints, while others show artists' renditions of the views. Artistic works have been created to suit just about every taste.

Even the most modest budget can afford to purchase one of these renditions of the Trade Center. Famous artists have often chosen the World Trade Center as a subject of their artistic inspiration. Limited editions of these works may cost thousands of dollars. One of the most moving photographic views is the one that shows the New York firemen raising the American flag at ground zero. The towers are still smoking rubble filled with the bodies of survivors and non survivors yet to be discovered.

Any work of art should be presented thoughtfully with the appropriate frame and mat. If you are looking for a print, some websites offer the feature of virtually framing the picture. Based on your choices, the print will arrive ready to hang on your wall to become a part of your home or office. Framing artwork in this manner can also be less expensive than going to a professional framer.

The artwork comes in sizes to suit the available wall space. There are panoramic shots or smaller sizes that will fit right into an off the rack eight by ten frame. Calendars are available in desktop or wall sizes that feature a different views of the towers for each month. There is no denying the significant role these buildings have played in our history.

Prints that show the memorial built in the ground where the towers once stood are just as meaningful. War and terrorism are destructive and tragic, yet somehow the worst of times brings out the best in men and women. Efforts to divide people can have the effect of creating a new unity among those very same people. All the artwork memorializing this location before and after the tragic events of nine eleven prove the coming together of many minds with common thoughts.

The World Trade Center shows what can be created when engineering and imagination come together. Detailed close up images are as beautiful as the far off views that show the towers in the background. The absence of these buildings still leaves a hole in the collective heart of Americans.

A trip to New York City is not complete without a visit to the memorial. This is a powerful, evocative experience. This day and this place will never be forgotten. The prints, posters and original works of art depicting the site will keep the memory alive for generations to come.
