Knowing Good Science Fiction Music

By Brenda Burns

There are many people around the globe who like to listen to tunes which will shock and disturb them on every possible level. Some science fiction music that is heard in Tucson AZ is known to give individuals goosebumps and other traumatic problems whenever they hear it. "Battlestar Galactica" "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" "Aliens" and "ET" were made during the 70's and 80's and they are still popular among adventure fans in today's society.

Many people have gone to see all three of the previous "Star Wars" films which were made decades ago. These were very popular movies which featured great actors who have been around for a very long time. John Williams is the original composer for all of these movies and he has done some great work for television as well.

"ET" was a film about a lonely young boy who yearned to have a special companion even though his mother and other siblings were always there for him. One night he discovered an alien living upon his property and the two of them became fast friends which was great. Once again Mr. John Williams was responsible for the main theme which was very sentimental on all levels. People who watch this film are always grateful for this particular tune.

Steven Speilberg and George Lucas have always reached out to John Williams when they want to create new and exciting characters in a film. When it was time for "Raiders of The Lost Ark" to obtain a theme these men contacted Mr. Williams immediately. He was able to put together a simple sound which would always be associated with this particular movie. Luckily the films star Harrison Ford also loved John's work.

Back in the 70's the show "Battlestar Galactica" was a big hit with viewers everywhere within the United States. This was one series which dealt with space creatures and other ugly critters who were trying to destroy the world. During the year 2004 a man named Bear McCreary decided to arrange new tunes for the latest "Battlestar Galactica" series. This show would be very different than the one made in 1978.

Many years ago people were amazed to watch a certain motion picture titled "Logan's Run." This film dealt with a society which did not value older people since they were killed after turning thirty years old. A brilliant composer named Jerry Goldsmith was fortunate enough to write the tune for this particular project.

"Aliens" was a follow up to the 1979 thriller named "Alien." This very terrifying project came from the mind of Ridley Scott and it made millions of dollars at the movie theaters. James Horner did the musical numbers for this very important film and he was very creative with this project. The aliens had their own tunes whenever they were featured upon the movie screens.

"Jurassic Park" dealt with dinosaurs and other animals which all lived thousands of years ago. The movie is one roller coaster ride that no one really wants to miss if they are living within the United States. It is not surprising that John Williams was also available to compose all sounds to this hit American film which is loved by millions.
