The Do's And Don'ts Of Fashion Photography, With Mohan's

By Michael Robert Peterson

Fashion photography is one of the most interesting fields that can be seen in art. Those who are involved in this level of work are not only proficient at using cameras and other related equipment, but they have the ability to understand style in the broadest sense. With that said, it's important to recognize how fashion photography can be done well. With the help of Mohan's, here are some of the essential do's & don'ts to help you along.

DO make note of your technology. When it comes to fashion photography, few things seem to matter as much as technology. This includes, but is not limited to, your tripod and the camera you have invested much into. These supplies matter, as I am sure companies such as Mohan's Custom Tailors can attest. Before you can take pictures, you must have the gear that can fulfill each purpose you are given.

DON'T let your models remain stoic. Another thing to know about fashion photography is that your models can make all of the difference. The way that they pose, as well as how they wear different attires, can provide you with greater results than you might have ever imagined. For this reason, let your models know that they have freedom. As Mohan's Custom Tailors can attest, this will reduce the chances of stoic photos being taken.

DO be consistent with each shot you take. One of the best way to improve your skill set, as a fashion photographer, is by being consistent with your work. Simply put, never stop taking pictures. A better way to go about this is by trying new things, whether it's in relation to camera angles you haven't played with or some other element entirely. A consistency flow of work will help you become better at your craft, so please stay ambitious.

DON'T leave out the props. Finally, you should know that fashion photography efforts can made even stronger with the right props. While clothing will undeniably be the focus of said efforts, the right props can make any shot stand out. Maybe you'd like to include a plant or two, or perhaps a decorative sofa. Whatever the case may be, props such as these can make all of the difference when it comes to the pictures you will eventually take.
