Corporate Entertainment Acts For Private Events

By Matthew Roberts

It can often be easy to recruit entertainers for local venues such as clubs, restaurants, theme parks and other public performances. Whereas, when it comes to recruiting corporate entertainment acts most companies go through event planning companies or booking agencies. While this is the case, there are also entertainers whom frequent the corporate world that often play for free as a method of advertisement.

In most cases, those performing at these locations are not always well known artists. In fact, a number of entertainers offer these services free of charge as a method of advertisement. Whereas, there are others whom work for little pay when performing at clubs and restaurants. Most recently, magicians have become very active in performing at companies and corporations.

Acts doing this type performance are often considered to be playing private events. While there are a variety of performers whom will do so, most often it is comedians, magicians, motivational speakers, musicians, or poets. For, all have the ability to motivate and increase morale among upper level management, shareholders and employees.

It is even more important to get an early start on booking when it comes to the holidays. For, most artists and performers providing entertainment to corporations also play at other venues. Whereas, many also play private parties at a variety of locations from Halloween through New Year's Eve.

These performances are often booked by a representative at the corporation or companies which provide and sponsor this type entertainment. Generally, these companies are known as corporate event planners or corporate booking agencies. In other cases, performers may contact a company to provide information and get hired to do a performance.

Entertainment at some of these events can include different types of board, sports and trivia games. In events where individual participation in sports related events is a part of the process, it is often good to have employees sign a release form in case of accident or injury. Whereas, when working with a performer, it is often advised that a contract be set up between the company and entertainer as to date, time, place, policy and payment.

While most often these events hire outside entertainment, there are some in which the employees are asked to participate in a variety of trivia, board and sporting games. When asked to participate in any physical event, it is often advised that employees sign a release form in case of accident or injury. If not, the corporation could be held liable for any medical costs which the employee occurs as a result of the incident.

In most cases, entertainers performing at corporations are paid at a higher rate than those performing in other venues. At the same time, it can often be hard for some individuals to follow corporate guidelines with regards to dress, language and behavior prior to, during and after the performance while on the property where the event is being held.
