Directing, Teaching And Composing With Music Pedagogy Methods

When it comes to music, there are many different areas in which an individual can become involved. One of these, is teaching Piano and Voice. In either case, both require individuals which have been trained in Music Pedagogy methods. In most cases, those interested in this area often become public or private instructors and teachers.

Theory focuses on the history, music and musicians of a specific period I time. Whereas, Music Pedagogy is the study of the practices and principles associated with teaching. In most cases, those holding a degree in this area basically teach others how to teach. If individuals are interested in learning about this or other aspects of music, there are class and program listings on sites such as Study dot com and others.

Students looking to acquire a Doctorate or Masters in this area need have a Bachelor's of Arts with a major or minor in music. In most cases, these include composition, performance, history and theory. Once an individual has completed a Bachelor's, the individual can then move on towards a Master's or Doctorate level degree. After which, the individual will have a number of options when it comes to working with others in the educational aspects of the business.

Programs include information about literature, composition, theory and instrument, like piano or voice. In most cases, degrees in this area will also require completing an internship. Whereas, when desiring to become a Doctor Of Music Education, there are some courses which are required for either of these advanced degrees.

The most common degrees associated with Voice or Piano Pedagogy are a Bachelor's Degree in Musical Arts, a Masters Degree in Musical Education or a D. M. A. In Musical Education. For, all of these degrees can provide the information and instruction necessary for an individual to become involved in instructing, teaching, composing or directing. Whether teaching at a community college, private institution or providing lessons in a home, it is the work of these individuals which leads to the success of others.

As the instruction and learning in this area often requires hands-on participation, online study is limited. While this is the case, there may be some courses required for a Bachelor's or Master's degree which can be completed online. Before registering and completing these classes, it is important to verify with an advisement counselor that the selected course meets the requirements of a degree plan.

Individuals looking to acquire a Master's often have a number of career options. For example, the individual can work as a community college teacher or private instructor. Whereas, those holding Doctorate degrees often work with students preparing to compose, direct or perform. When it comes to the salaries for these positions, a composer or director almost always makes more than a teacher or instructor.

Currently, the median wage for those teaching in community colleges and private instruction is approximately $35,000 per year. Whereas, individuals working to teach others how to compose, direct, perform and teach is often closer to $50,000. In either case, individuals often need a great deal of talent as well as a degree when desiring to start a career in this area.
