An Online Marketing Company's Do's & Don'ts Of Using Soundcloud

By Paula Hess

SoundCloud, for those that don't know, is a social platform that focuses on music and audio streaming. You will be able to find a number of music tracks, podcasts, and sound clips if you know what to search for. Depending on your business, SoundCloud could be a major part of your business model as well. Online marketing companies across the board can agree, so here are a few do's & don'ts that you'd be wise to follow.

DO make it a point to share SoundCloud content. It doesn't matter if you're a musician, podcast host, or what have you; chances are you won't get far unless you share your work. Once you publish your work on SoundCloud, share it on Facebook, Twitter and the other social networks you're active on. What this will do, according to the likes of fishbat.com, is build awareness early on. This is just the first step that online marketing companies will tell you to follow.

DON'T overlook the importance of visuals. SoundCloud is an audio-focused platform, but this doesn't mean that you have to limit yourself to this. With every piece of content that you upload, you can include a picture. This is especially helpful if, for example, you're a musician that wants to draw attention to your albums. By including album art, you bring a visual element into the fold, which only makes your content more engaging and shareable.

DO implement SEO as early as possible. SoundCloud users should know that they can get found on search engines, provided they know what to do. When they upload new content, be it a music track or podcast episode, they will be able to include descriptions and tags. What these do, in theory, is allow the content in question to be easily found when people search. Anyone that specializes in search engine optimization will agree that SoundCloud is underrated in this sense.

DON'T overlook the benefits of SoundCloud Pro. This is the premium membership option that requires either a monthly or yearly fee. For what you pay, you can gain access to analytics, which will help you when it comes to posting future content. You will also be able to update or edit previous content without losing the likes and comments you've obtained up to that point. For those that heavily use SoundCloud, this membership should be considered.
