How To Discover a Great Sin City Photographer

By Debrah Langston

He needs to have more than a point and shoot camera in order to do a professional job. He must come equipped with a camera that has professional capabilities. He should also have multiple lenses to guarantee successful shots both near and far as well as in all types of lighting. In Las Vegas the sun is intense; he/she needs to be able to compensate for that as well as moonlight, candlelight, or any other type of lighting situation.

He/she needs to have a tripod, detachable flashes, and here's a biggie--additional battery packs. You don't want the photographer to lose power in the middle of your shoot. Also important, does your photographer carry back-up equipment? What if there is a malfunction during your event? Should you lose photos because his/her camera failed?

He/she needs to have experience in shooting the type of event that you are hosting. Is it a wedding? This requires much experience. Is it your baby's christening? Can't pick a photographer that hates kids. As you chat with your potential photographer trust your intuition, it won't guide your wrong. You want someone that is inventive, talented, and knows his/her craft well.

Check the photographer's credentials thoroughly. Check with the Better Business Bureau serving Las Vegas for any disputes or complaints. Ask to see his/her work and then ask for references. Inquire about their experiences and opinions of the photographer and then ask to see their photos. Finally ask if they would invite him/her back to photograph their child's wedding.

Make sure your photographer is well equipped with a range of proper photography gear. You don't want your professional photographer walking into your event with the same camera you gave grandma Daisy for Christmas! A photographer should be able to use multiple lenses, various lighting, and a range of other photography equipment.
