Not So Great - Ge Digital Camera Review

By Brandon Lee

We are consulting engineers and need cameras to record status and progress of large construction projects. Hazardous duty for any electronic equipment and we have lost cameras when dropped or from water, dust, etc. Remember that any camera of this size will not flash very far so you need to be close to whatever you are photographing when a flash is needed. If you are photographing something or someone in motion, put the camera on the correct setting. It is easy to carry around everywhere and comes in great colors. I would recommend this camera to everyone! The 'scene' settings never really help, and the only thing I've really found it useful for is just regular pictures with that drown-out look because the flash is so bright that you can't see anything in the background and the faces are almost so reflective it's hard to make out the features. I originally had my sights set on the Panasonic Lumix TS1 or TS2, and decided against it because I could not find any store that had one I could test first.

The camera was constantly covered in dew, rained on, and had a 35 pound backpack lying on top of it. Despite all of that, it worked flawlessly. I love it so much! I like the panoramic feature of the camera and the multi shot capabilities. I hope it works as well under water. I bought this camera in November, owned it for a month and I dropped my purse with my camera in it and the camera broke. Luckily, this hunt was during a sale or I might not have been so lucky. The main purpose for my camera is to take quick pictures (friends, pets, random places I go).

I shoot Canon (SLR and a point and shoot) so I knew I would be facing an adjustment, but I refuse to sacrifice image quality. The picture quality was awful, even in normal, non-low light, situations.

I wanted a waterproof camera I could take while fly fishing and not worry about it getting rained on or soaked if I fell in the river. The environment this camera withstood is a testament to how good a product it is; it rained nearly every day, the temp varied each day from low 40s to mid 60s F. I needed something durable and small for taking pictures while out with my toddler. This camera has been through the ringer already when she plays with it!

The memory is the wrong memory. It is the memory for the older model. The camera is slow and I expected that from other reviews, I can deal with that. The issue is the poor focus, sound and mid light conditions.

One tech person told me the problem was my iPhoto software and I should contact Apple (I thanked him, and called back to get a more knowledgeable person). After 4 calls and 2 emails to tech support, I still do not know if I need to initialize the camera or not.

I have always enjoyed Olympus products. The Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 lives up to my expectations.
