Tips To Help You Select The Right Camera Replacement Batteries

By Charlotte Kaycee

Trying to replace a dead camera battery can be a real pain. Some batteries, unfortunately, are very difficult to find or you might not even know which battery you need for your camera. Fortunately, the tips in this article can help you select and find the right camera replacement batteries for your camera.

If your camera uses regular batteries, such as AAA batteries or AA batteries, you're in luck. Most stores carry these and they do not cost much at all. To find out if your camera uses these, just open up the battery compartment and take a look inside. If you see springs and space for cylindrical or a large rectangular battery, you'll need standard batteries.

Quite a lot of cameras now use rechargeable batteries that rely on lithium cells. There are many types of lithium based batteries and they also provide varying levels of voltages. They are even sold under different brand names.

To figure out which rechargeable battery you need, start by looking at the dead battery. Take a note of its name and the amount of voltage it provides. If you don't have the old battery, look through your camera's manuals or contact the camera's manufacturer.

You may be able to find the battery you need in some electronic stores and specialized battery stores. However, the easiest way to locate the necessary battery for a camera is on the Web. Make sure that any battery you purchase provides the exact same amount of power as your old battery.

If you need to save some money on your camera replacement batteries, you can try buying unbranded, or generic, batteries. These will cost less, but you need to ensure that their fully compatible with your camera prior to making the purchase. Additionally, check your camera's warranty to find out if using an unbranded battery has the potential to void the warranty.
