How You Can Improve Your Black And White Photo With Adobe Elements

If your black & white photographs have hints of colors in certain portions; you may now correct it using the easy to access features of Elements. Using this software's features, you can retain the old classic black and white look of your favorite photographs forever now.

Here is how to improve the quality of your black and white images using Adobe Photoshop Elements:

1. The first step is to convert your current photo into an absolute black & white picture. This should be done using the feature of RDB that converts colours to grayscales. To do this, simply click to the picture to get through mode. In the mode you see an option of grayscale. After hitting that, you'll see that all of the live colours of images are faded with no access to incorporate other effects like sepia et al. Thus, you could just avoid this option and select one more. You can remove the colour of your photograph by going to the "Enhance" option, then go to color and in the last, go to "remove color". This fill eliminates all of the colours in the image, however, enabling the access to toning and incorporating other colour effects in the photo.

2. Now to adjust the contrast level in your photo, click on to enhance, then auto levels and finally auto contrast. This will make amazing changes by enhancing the brightness of the parts of the object in the picture; it will however have no effects on the background of the photo. You might try another option rather than this one. Click on flash mode to reach 'enhance' and then click 'fillflash'. This option is best chosen for those photographs taken in broad day light where the subject needs little resolution and colour improvement. These steps will assist you to clear off the shadow and enhance the clarity of the picture.

3. To more adjust the contrast in the photo, go to 'enhance', then 'brightness' to reach to 'contrast'. On clicking 'contrast' you will see a tool box opening which details you on the pixels of brightness existing in your picture. This tool box will also have the option of changing the brightness of your photograph. The graph in the left shows the percentage of shadow in the photo. Similarly, the graph in the middle and right show middle tones and brighter tones respectively. You can drag the slider to adjust the tones in your photograph accordingly.

4. Though with these steps your photograph would be almost ready, however, you may still invest some more time to better it to perfection. Click on to the blend modes and make a duplicate layer where you may blend your photograph with various modes and settings. You may make darker regions go lighter and vise-versa by making alterations in its pixels. Decrease the opacity of the photograph by using the filtering effect on the top layer. Lastly, you can add sepia effect to the photograph by clicking enhance and then click on 'color' to reach the option of hue/saturation slider.
