Important Reasons To Try Cotton Envelopes For Home Or Office Use

By Lori B Olson

Most kinds of paper today are made from some kind of wood product. Paper products can be recycled, but there are other costs associated with them. Cotton envelopes can be a good alternative in some cases. Here are some reasons to consider this alternative material.

Environmental Concerns

Alternative stationary supplies are not made from wood, and this will use less trees. All over the planet, the forests are rapidly vanishing. Unless this trend stops, most of the forests could be gone, in the future. Once all of these trees are lost, replacing them will no longer be an option.

Disappearing forests can have a large impact on the environment in a number of ways. With fewer trees, there is less oxygen and a lot more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This is due to the fact that trees produce oxygen and they take in carbon dioxide, in photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is a major greenhouse gas that can contribute to global warming. Global warming can actually be responsible for bringing about an Ice Age.

When trees are used to manufacture paper, it takes away from supplies that can be used for other purposes. A lot of other industries rely on wood and wood products. A great deal of the economy is based on the building industry, which relies heavily on wood.

Preserving Important Things

There is a problem with preserving and archiving information on wood based paper. The pulp in the fiber contains acid, and acid will attack and destroy the fibers of the paper. Alternative sources like cotton envelopes are a much better choice, as they do not contain acid. Many years from now, they will still be in good condition.

Summary

Many people believe that there is an inexhaustible supply of wood on the planet, yet trees and forests are disappearing at a rapid rate. This can have huge environmental effects on the earth and its climate. Cotton envelopes provide an alternative to using paper made from trees. They also do not contain acid, which will attack and destroy paper, over time. This makes it perfect for important documents and for archiving.
