What Features Do You Need In Your Professional Digital Video Camera

By Larkin Reyes

When buying a professional digital video camera you will want to choose one that is portable. This will give you a lot more flexibility when it comes to where and how you use the camera. Most cameras these days are described as portable but often they are just too heavy to carry around. Some manufacturers have addressed this issue. For example Sony listened to their user feedback and introduced an ergonomically designed body weight balance on their latest video camera.

Depending on what you want to shoot, you may need different types of lens so it is worth going for a professional digital video camera that allows for interchangeable lens. You may even want to invest in a wide angled lens if you think you will use the effect this produces.

If you are into shooting nature you will probably want a long lens or at least a camera that is suitable for use with this type of lens. It helps if the lens hood is easily removed by pushing a button rather than having to unscrew the whole thing.

You need to have a look at the size of the LCD screen. Some models are being sold with a higher quality screen, such as, one with more pixels but this usually means it is smaller than perhaps the one you would have been used to. Some cameras have extra functionality on the zoom and other mechanisms necessary to give you great results.

You will also want to check the mediums that the camera will use. Some will only allow you to use the latest technology while others will use the same format of tape as previous versions in the range did. This can come in handy if you have hours of footage already shot with a different camera. Everyone will have slightly different needs in their professional digital video camera so make sure you know what you want before you start shopping.
