All About Digital Videos

By Dee Dee White

Whether we watch TV, surf on the Internet, join a video conference at work or use our telephone, we find ourselves surrounded by digital videos in various forms of digital technology. The possibility to capture moving pictures with the use of a camera has made it possible to change lots of aspects of human activity. Inter-communications and inter-relations depend on the more advanced technologies for a wide number of reasons.

Most video camera users want to preserve memories in the private family library, but the applications for professionals extend way beyond this range. Just think how camcorders always accompany us when traveling. The tourist sees famous world attractions through the lens of the camera. What better proof could there be for the huge availability of digital technology? We now create digital videos for almost everything, whether it is a special event or not.

We could say that digital videos match our effort of keeping memories vivid. Nobody can blame you for wanting to remember the good parts of your lives. Yet, there is another side of the coin when it comes to digital videos: they can also be used against people. Digital technology is presently used for both legal and criminal purposes There are lots of digital videos with embarrassing moments that have been made public on the Internet. Unfortunately, the protagonists of such digital videos could have been filmed in awkward situations that they would not want revealed.

In other cases, digital videos work for our own safety: digital surveillance is now a security measure used in airports, banks, hotels, restaurants and any type of institution you can imagine. Digital cameras are so extensively used, that people don't even realize that they are being under constant surveillance when shopping, withdrawing money from the ATM or embarking at the airport. We have grown so used to the existence of cameras in our lives that we are no longer bothered by their presence. No recording system at the hypermarket will cause you trouble.

Surveillance cameras are used in stores to prevent shoplifting and other illegal activities. For legal disputes and criminal investigations, digital videos are very serious evidence, and the first to check by forensics specialists.

Digital technology is predominant in our times. It accompanies us everywhere, and it is something that we have waited for and worked on for a long time. Let's enjoy its benefits!
