Finding the Best Professional for Baby Photography

By Jensen Cartwright

It's important to find someone who specializes in baby photography when you want the very best pictures of your precious infant. Don't be fooled by the low price big store studios, you'll be disappointed every time. You want crisp clear shots that focus on the beauty of your baby, not blurry photos that you hide in a drawer.

You can ensure your pictures will turn out right by choosing the very best photographer to work with your baby. Very few photographers will admit if they have little experience photographing infants. To choose the right artist for your baby photography, look through his portfolio to be sure he works well with babies.

Some of the best photographers are members of local photography guilds, so this might be a good place to start. Look for photographers with a good reputation among their peers, but don't be fooled by those who simply claim to be "the best." The best is rarely the one who yells the loudest.

Don't forget to consider where your photographer will be working, when you pick your artist to work with. Decide what type of location will work best for you, and ask if your photographer has experience working there. Be sure to think about safety and cleanliness when choosing a location. Request any backgrounds that you may require, and inspect them ahead of time to ensure they're in good shape.

Related to appearance in baby photography are props. If the photographer specializes in baby photography, they should have a sufficient amount of props to help stage a photo, as well as keep a fussy baby's attention long enough for a shoot. If their only prop is a hand puppet that looks suspiciously like a sock with a couple of eyes glued on, keep looking.

There are lots of extras and add-ons you'll want to purchase when the picture is right. Look for packages that include fridge magnets, wallet size and enlarged pictures. And don't forget to buy enough to share with friends and family who'll want to see your bundle of joy as well.
