The Traditional And Photojournalism Types Of Wedding Photography

By Charlie Michaels

Choosing a photography style for a wedding determines how the wedding day will be remembered for years to come. Though there are still requests for conventional wedding photography, the demands for such have significantly reduced nowadays. Most betrothed couples in Singapore now prefer a bolder approach in photography approach. They prefer to have pictures that show the real happening in their wedding rather than pictures that see them and their guests posing and smiling for the camera. There may be times in the wedding that they are not aware that their photo is being taken, but that's exactly how they want their pictures taken.

Many wedding photographers in Singapore provide such wedding photography type, which is called reportage photography or photojournalism. With photojournalism, the couples don't have to stop and pose for the camera every time. They can act natural and let the photographer shoot pictures whenever the photographer thinks a worthy shot should be captured. As a result, photographers are able to take natural-looking pictures that seize the true mood of the event.

The photographer can capture genuine emotions that way since the couple and their guests don't need to pose and give their best smile in front of the camera. Brief but dear instances that are almost impossible to be replicated and therefore should be taken on camera include the time when the father of the bride sheds a tear as he hands his daughter over to her new husband, when the tired flower girl tries hard to stay awake during the ceremony, and when the groom shows an admiring glance at his wife. These are instances that ought to be captured on camera because they make the wedding real.

That's not to say that traditional photography isn't practiced anymore. Taking traditional photography is almost required during weddings. A photographer usually asks the couple to pose with each other before and after the wedding, and the whole family to pose with the newlyweds right after the ceremony. These shots and some others are included in the list of must-take photos of the photographer. However, the rest of the shots are ideally unscripted.

A singapore wedding photographer generally offers both traditional and photojournalism photography for wedding events. Nevertheless, many couples these days choose a combination of two types. They have a list of shots that they like captured and they also wish for a reportage photography style on their wedding.
