Finding the Right Wedding Photographer

By Shawn Smith

A marriage is one of the most vital occasions which comes once a life-time (hopefully). Not only is it a point in time when two individuals come together as one, but the occasion can be captured on film. It is critical that you hire the right photographer to capture the essence of the day. In addition as marriage photos can be costly, it is important you do the research and find the right professional photographer that offers value and service.

Typically referrals for marriage photographers come via personal recommendation. However if you don't know anyone that can help , the simplest way is to jump onto the Net and perform a search. Enter key phrases like "professional photographer" into Google or Bing and see what results that you get. Google often will target your physical location, however if you want to be specific, enter you geographic location before the word photographer, for instance" Melbourne Photographer".

When looking for your ideal photographer, you'll need to consider the following aspects:

Price: this is always the sticking point. But I suggest that you don't base your decision wholly on cost. Consider what service the photographer is providing in terms of locations, the length of service offered on the day and after service.

Testimonials: This I think is essential. Don't just take the testimonials of the photographers website as gospel. Naturally they will only have positive testimonials listed. Again jump onto Google and type in reviews and name of photographer and see what comes up. Weigh up any negative against the positive as a part of your considerations.

Portfolio: This is an obvious one. But ask to see their shots from previous jobs. From there you will get a good indication as to whether you like their style, angle shots and whether they will be in a position to capture the essence of what you want to achieve on your important day.
