Photo Equipment: The Basics Everybody Must Have

By Harvin Gulfill

Taking photographs is a necessity of living. We always want something tangible, something special to hold on to a rather memorable occasion and what better way is there for holding on to the captured moment than having a photograph as a keepsake? The right photo equipment can either make or break your moment. You don't necessarily have to spend thousands of dollars; you just need to have the basics. Here are some you may have:

The Digital Camera. You obviously can take the photographs without a digital camera. There are two types of digital cameras: one is for the amateur - the point shoot automatic camera - and one is for the professional - the SLR. They have features that allow you to manually control focus, exposure length and aperture - the camera's light collector that allows how much light gets in and out.

The Tripod. This photo equipment comes in a variety of sizes ranging from the large one you see professionals use to the small foldable one, handy for bringing with during vacation. The tripod allows you to hold the camera very still for low light exposures.

A Camera Bag. This prevents the lens of your camera from being damaged especially during transportation. They come in different sizes ranging from a small cute bag to a large fully equipped functional bag that serve as storage for other photo equipment you have.

Batteries. Bring batteries for a long planned day ahead or if you are going to a location wherein there isn't an outlet available for you to charge your batteries. Rechargeable batteries are recommended so you won't have to spend much on buying new ones.

Memory Cards. Your memory card is equivalent to a storage space. The more you have, the more you can store. There is nothing worse than having lots of moments to capture and not having a lot of space to store your pictures. To prevent that from happening, carry at least a spare with you.

Everyone has different needs for his or her camera but as the saying hakuna matata goes, there will always be photo equipment available that will suit your needs.
