The Art Of Selecting Instrumental Beats

By Delroy Wilkins

Are you a hip hop artist who is trying to create his own beats and instrumentals to sell? How do you know that you have chosen the right one? There are some rappers out there who instinctively know how to choose the right beats and instrumentals for their songs. You may be asking yourself as to why this does not seem to be happening to you. It is important that you understand that not everyone has the skill to know the right beats for their song, and that some rappers have trained hard over a couple of years before they could develop a good ear.

One way of getting good beats would be to listen to samples available and write a song that would match those beats. This is by far the most common and simplest method. Once you find a good piece of instrumental, you will notice that it is easier for the lyrics to flow out right then. So with this method, you are basically relying on the beats to give you inspiration, after which you will begin writing the song.

The second method used by hip hop artists to select beats is more popular. It involves writing the lyrics to a song first. Only when the lyrics are complete does the rapper start searching for the beats and lyrics to accompany it. The main reason rappers prefer this method is that it allows them to write lyrics freely without worrying too much about the beats. This is as opposed to writing lyrics based on a specific beat.

Selecting the right beats and instrumentals for your songs plays a huge part in getting a following as well as creating great hits. You can select from hundreds of sample beats and instrumentals provided by major websites. A majority of these sites provide free samples and some even allow users to edit the beats. The editing feature will enable you to create unique content through mixing up a couple of beats.

Once you have downloaded a few samples, you can easily edit and mix them to come up with your own beat. Don't hesitate to try out other genres such as RnB, jazz and pop to create unique beats! You'll be surprised at how many good betas have been created by just mixing a hip hop beat with beats from other genres. If you want to sell your beats, set up a website and then sell them from there. To get your content to the right buyers, it's advisable to learn some internet marketing tricks. This will help you to market you beats to the world.
